Little Barn Dance and Musical Theatre Co.is a heaven for sprouting and blossoming theatre kids who love Singing, Theatre Dance, Popular Dance, Tap, Acting, Writing and lots of Performing in some of the most beautiful settings in The Hamptons.
Founded by Kim Eilian, our programs naturally and spontaneously nurture confidence, imagination and connection in our beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces.
Every child, tween and teen - whether shy, silly, bold, or brand new - no matter what level of training, will benefit and thrive in our boutique camps and classes. Joy and growth is what we see in our dedicated campers.
In our clever Broadway-style summer camps and lovely Music Mommy & Me classes, we bring a fresh perspective on what we think Theatre Camp in the Hamptons should be.

Programs for Every Stage (and Every Stage of Childhood)
At Little Barn, we believe in the process of creating and becoming as much as a beautiful stage to perform on. We want our campers to have all the things - learning and play, structure and freedom, and joy and connection - in our beautiful summer camps.
Our programs are thoughtfully designed to be outdoors more than indoors (in our dance and singing tents, acting under the trees and imaginative play and playground during free time) and to grow with your child, from their first twirl in a Mommy & Me class to their standing ovation as a teenager, to counselor and role model in our summer shows.
Each offering - camps, classes, parties, and private lessons - is rooted in skills, creativity, connection, joy, and excellence. Whether your toddler, child, or teen dreams of Broadway or is simply enchanted with learning fun dances (rooted in body intelligence and dance basics), songs, and shows, our program is carefully designed to meet them at their level and interest.
And while the stage is the beacon of this joy, it’s all the things we celebrate that stay in our memories forever.

How We Teach at Little Barn
At Little Barn, our philosophy is simple: we don’t teach choreography - we teach dance basics.
We believe the fundamentals always come first.
No matter a child’s age, we begin with the foundational steps that build real dancers - not just performers copying movements.
We approach dance the way you’d approach reading: first, you learn the alphabet - then you build words, sentences, and stories. Refinement comes with maturity, practice, and repetition.
In the same way, we teach universal steps and qualities of dance through Broadway ballet, theater dance, tap, and popular dance, with fun and clever dances that use lots of repetition and later become part of our shows.
As the dancers grow, the basics become second nature, developing “body intelligence". Then comes more refinement, and we can create more complex choreography as the dancers progress.
When it’s time to perform, they already know the dances from class - focused on dance basics. We don’t focus on perfecting every step. Instead, we give kids the chance to practice, explore, and let their personalities shine. Over time, the steps become second nature. And because they truly understand what they’re doing, they can recognize dance vocabulary wherever they go—because we’ve taught them the language of dance.
Our founder, Kim, developed this method over decades of trial and error in teaching, and through watching her own son thrive in programs with strong, consistent curriculums. She saw that structure, repetition, and a joyful environment help children grow steadily - and fall in love with dance for life.
Our dances are full of heart, energy, and music that kids connect with - from modern musicals like Matilda, Seussical, and Wicked to beloved classics like The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, and 42nd Street.
We often incorporate elements of iconic choreography while staying true to our mission: fun, meaningful movement built on a strong foundation of the basics.
And because we know children need time to play and be creative, we build in breaks: free dance time, stage play, and art throughout the day.
Our pre-shows come out of those free-time moments - where kids get to perform their own dances, skits, and songs, make announcements, and truly become the stars of the show.
It’s one of our favorite parts - watching with joy as their funny, creative, and confident personalities come to the surface in our performances.

Little Barn's Mission
At Little Barn, we believe dance and musical theatre deserve important, beautiful and inspiring spaces with a clever, skill-based curriculum and a strong philosophy to guide us as we journey along the “yellow brick road.”
At the heart of our mission is the belief that we are all like the characters in The Wizard of Oz. At times, we may feel unsure of our courage, our intelligence, or our worth—but through challenges, creativity, and connection, we discover that we’ve had those strengths inside us all along.
Each day at Little Barn, our dancers, singers, and actors show up bravely to learn something new, make friends, express themselves, and build confidence—one step at a time. With love, structure, joyful repetition and play, we help children grow into resilient, capable artists who know they are Brave, Smart, and Kind… because they’ve lived it.
Our nurturing and creative space is connected with nature and filled with magic, movement, and meaning—because the journey matters just as much as the destination.
Rainbows, butterflies, lady bugs, birds, the occasional dragonfly (and mystical flying unicorns) capture our imagination - something beyond our reach but present with a song, dance and story. We come alive in our summer farm setting learning, playing and putting on shows till the day is gone when the fireflies appear for their nightly summer shows.

LITTLE BARN BIRTHDAY PARTIES AND ENTERTAINMENT
Our Little Barn Birthday parties may take place in our summer Musical Theatre Dance Tent (Hamptons: we can accommodate up to 30 children), our NYC Studio (UES: we can accommodate up to 15 children) or your chosen location.
We provide the space and/or entertainment and swag bag, you bring the cake and snacks.
Your child will be the star and director - in a delightful version and format of our very popular format of musical theatre class.
We will custom tailor this dancing and singing party to your child’s vision.
Our teachers can turn up as your child’s favorite characters!
